Safety & Trust
Passing something along starts with a little trust. Clear photos, honest descriptions, and a few simple steps help everyone know what to expect. And if an exchange needs attention, Town Hall is the place to ask for help.
Honest details. Clear steps.
Families looking out for families.
Choose the condition that fits: New with tags, Like new, Good, Fair, or Playwear. Show any wear in your photos and mention it in the description. If our AI helps draft your listing, give it a careful read before you publish.
Pass along children's clothes, shoes, toys, baby gear, books, learning supplies, and useful family items that can be shipped or picked up. Leave out anything recalled or unsafe. If you're unsure whether something is safe for another family, please don't list it.
Each exchange has a record in the app. Points are held when an item is claimed, and the Post Office guides you through shipping or pickup. The family who listed the item receives the Points once the exchange is complete.
The claiming family pays for the prepaid label and platform fee, with the total shown before payment. If you're sending, pack the item with care and mark it shipped once it's on its way.
When the package arrives, the receiving family confirms it in the app. That completes the exchange and releases the Points to the family who sent it.
Local pickup is available when the listing family offers it. Follow their instructions to arrange a meeting, and share only the details you need to find each other.
Pickup has a platform fee, but no shipping label. Choose a public place where you feel comfortable. If the arrangement doesn't feel right, it's okay to say no.
Neighbors see your Town address, your home, and the items you've listed. Your real street address is used as the origin for shipping labels. It isn't your public address in Town.
More detail lives on the Privacy page.
Visit Town Hall to open a problem report or check on one you've already filed. An exchange can be paused while the report is reviewed, so there's room to look into what happened.
We can help you report a problem, but we don't insure items, verify every listing, or inspect items before they're listed. For questions outside an exchange, you can also write to hello@handmedowntown.com.
